Want to waste less? Discover Surrey’s zero waste map

Reducing your waste and recycling more doesn’t need to be complicated. Whether you want to repair a toaster, donate unwanted clothes, stock up on some household products or recycle hard-to-dispose-of items, Surrey residents now have an easier way to find services nearby.

Surrey’s zero waste map, created by Surrey County Council on behalf of the Surrey Environment Partnership (SEP), brings together locations across the county where people can reduce, reuse, repair, recycle or donate items instead of throwing them away.

The interactive map is simple to use. Users have the option to either enter a postcode to find local services, or browse a range of categories, including:

  • Clothing repairs
  • Community fridges / cupboards
  • Community groups
  • Community recycling centres
  • Library of Things
  • Nappy library / baby bank
  • Recycling banks
  • Repair cafés
  • Second-hand shops
  • Sewing workshops, classes and courses
  • Stores with customer recycling
  • Zero-waste shops
  • Bicycle repairs
  • Furniture repairs

In 2023-24, Surrey households produced an average of 445kg of rubbish, much of which could have been repaired, reused, recycled or donated instead.

Surrey’s zero waste map can help residents waste less and keep useful items in circulation for longer. By using it, you can support local businesses and charities, help build a circular economy and reduce carbon emissions.
